Syllabus
Attached is the Fall 2006 syllabus.
Unit 1: Life 101
Students will understand:
• all living things are composed of cells
• from fertilization, how cells specialize and reproduce
• how macromolecules and enzymes sustain life
• How cells create homeostatic states within the body
• How cells obtain energy and nutrients
Test 1A - Cells and Mitosis we had it!
Test 2A - Chapter 8 and 9 Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration on Thursday September 7, 2006!
Unit 2: What are your genes wearing?
Students will understand:
• Importance of nucleic acid processes in determining inheritance
• Value and harm of mutations
• Value and harm of biotechnology
• How possible genetic combinations can affect reproductive choices (interaction of genes)
Chapters 11 , 12, 13, 14
Test will be at the end of September.

Advanced Placement Biology
Viruses: An Extended Lesson
Students will use the National Institute of Health web site to find articles on a variety of viruses. The graphic organizer may be downloaded, so the student has an electronic copy to complete while researching.
Unit 1 Notes
