Doug Altizer (Varsity Boys Soccer)

Coach Altizer is in his first year with Decatur. Coach Altizer holds a B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley and earned a M.A. in Education from Georgia State University. Altizer is a Decatur resident and currently teaches at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County.

Prior to taking the position with Decatur Altizer guided the Shiloh Girl's Varsity team to the playoffs and top ten rankings in his two years as head coach. For the last two years Altizer coached the U-19 Athena girls team for TYSA. Coach Altizer holds a USSF "D" license. Altizer has been coaching in Georgia and California since 1986. Past coaching affiliations include Lamorinda Soccer Club, San Francisco Viking F.C., Bay Oaks Soccer Club, Tophat Soccer Club, TYSA as well as The University of California,  Berkeley and Clemson University Soccer camps.                        

Playing experience:

• The Westminster Schools Georgia All-classification H.S. State Champions
• Datagraphics Soccer Club Georgia U-19 State Champions                
• San Francisco Greek American F.C. California Men's Amateur State Champions
• San Francisco Celtic S.F.S.F.L. Major League Champions
• Melchester United Georgia Men's Amateur State Champions
• Currently active with Vintage Genesis in the ADASL over 35 division. 

 

Jaques Edeline (Varsity Boys Soccer)

Coach Edeline is in his first year with Decatur. He is a recent Emory University graduate and is continuing on with graduate work in education at Emory. Coach Edeline holds a USSF "D" license.                  
                                         
Playing Experience:                                               

• 4 year starter at Emory (Captain senior year)
• Played in 2 NCAA tournaments
  
• Emory was tanked in top 10 nationally 3 years
• Record for most minutes played in a career
• Won two state high school championships (AA 1999, AAAA 2001)
• Played in three high school final fours

 

Stephen Gathany (Varsity Girls Soccer)

Coach Gathany is in his fifth year coaching at Decatur, but first year as the Girls' head coach. While coaching at Decatur he has helped lead the Bulldogs to two final four playoff games, one in 2005, and in 2006. Coach Gathany holds a B.S. in Psychology from Berry College and is currently working on his certification and masters degree in Special Education at the University of West Georgia. Gathany is a 1998 graduate of Decatur High School.

Prior to coaching at Decatur, Gathany was an assistant coach at Georgia State University for the men's soccer program. Gathany has also coached at the youth level at such soccer clubs as GFC, and SMYSA, and holds a USSF "C" license. He has had coaching experience covering Georgia, Colorado, and Tennessee since 1994. Past coaching affiliations include Georgia Futbol Club, Stone Mountain Soccer Club, Georgia State University, Steamboat Springs Soccer Academy, Berry College, The University of Colorado in Boulder, and Vanderbilt University soccer camps.

Playing Experience:

• The Decatur High School four-year starter and leading scorer
• SMYSA Storm and GSA Red Devils (Numerous State Championships)
• Leading Scorer for the GSA Red Devils                 
• Berry College four-year starter, 4th all-time leading scorer, All Conference Player
• Nashville Metros  leading scorer and Offensive Player of the Year
• Melchester/Wings Georgia Men's Amateur Soccer Team

 

Wesley Hatfield (JV and RMS Boys Soccer)

Coach Hatfield is in his first year teaching at Decatur after graduating from DHS in 1999. He holds a B.S.C in Chemistry from the University of Georgia and an M.Ed. in Secondary Science Education from Georgia State. He spent the last two years at North Springs High School where he coached the boys' junior varsity soccer team.
